For Hungary Schengen Visa

You can fill out an application for a Hungarian Schengen visa in English, French, or Hungarian. However, if your application includes any other written materials that are not in the three languages listed above, they must also be translated into either English or Hungarian. Application materials for Hungarian visas must be completed in capital Roman letters.

Valid passport

  • At least 2 blank pages.
  • With the applicant’s signature.
  • Not more than 10 years old.
  • Valid for at least 3 months after the expiration of the requested visa.
  • Previous passport, if applicable.

Passport-sized photos

  • Size 3.5 x 4.5 cm.
  • Plain white background.
  • Taken within the past 6 months.
  • Forward-facing with facial features visible and clear.

Documents pertinent to your trip

  • Plan or itinerary for travel.
  • A forward ticket to another country or evidence of a return to the country of residence.
  • purpose of visit to Hungary.
  • Reservations for flights.
  • Evidence of financial capability (bank statements for the most recent three months, personal property, or other assets).
  • Proof of lodging (including booking reference number, address, and hotel.

Travel medical insurance

  • Valid for the duration of the visa.
  • Valid across all Schengen nations.
  • The required minimum coverage amount is EUR 30,000.
  • The confirmation letter or insurance paperwork must clearly indicate the terms of your insurance, including the extent, duration, and validity of your coverage.

Employment letter with the following information:

  • Name and address of the employer.
  • Nature of employment.
  • Starting date of employment.
  • Salary.
  • Purpose of travel.
  • Duration of time off from work for travel.

Additional documents required - Scans (copies) of:

  • Personal-ID page of passport.
  • Older Schengen visas (if relevant).
  • Residence permit (if relevant).

 

Applicants below 18 years old

Applicants who are minors (below 18 years old) are required to submit the following additional requirements:

 1. Copy of birth certificate.

  • In case the minor applicant is adopted, adoption documents must be submitted.
  • If the minor applicant’s parents are divorced, divorce papers must be provided.
  • If the minor applicant’s parents are deceased, death certificates are required as well.

2. Letter of consent from both parents or legal guardians.

3. Copy of both parents’ or legal guardians’ passports

4. Additional documents may need to be provided in support of your travel visa application.

Hungary Visa Application Steps

  1. Prepare all the necessary paperwork.
  2. Choose “Tourism” on the visa application form when indicating your purpose for the trip.
  3. Choose how many entries are required for Hungary or the Schengen region.
  4. Complete the application.
  • You can download the application for a Hungarian Schengen visa from here. Any Hungarian Consulate or Embassy will have a paper copy available for applicants to pick up.

     5. Schedule a visa appointment, if applicable.
  • Most applications must be submitted in person at a scheduled appointment at the nearby Hungarian Consulate or visa facility. Alternately, applications may be submitted during regular business hours without an appointment. If an appointment is required, get in touch with the Hungarian Consulate or a visa facility.

    6. Submit your Hungary Schengen visa application.
  • Applications must be submitted no earlier than six months, but no less than 15 days, before the date of travel.
  • Application materials must often be delivered in person to the Hungarian Consulate or a visa processing facility. There might, however, be a few variations in the submission processes.
  • Applicants may occasionally permit others to submit the application on their behalf, provided that the authorization has been notarized. Professional, artistic, or athletic organizations may also submit an application on a member’s behalf. In the case of planned travel, travel agents may also be used. Even if someone or an organization is filing on the applicant’s behalf, the applicant must personally sign the application.
  • It is anticipated that applicants will be required to provide their fingerprints as biometric information. The gathering of fingerprint data from children less than 12 is not permitted. Most likely, applicants who have already submitted their fingerprints within the last 59 months won’t be requested to do so again.
  • Additionally, candidates might be asked to return at a later time for a trip-related interview.

     7. Pay the visa application fee.

Hungary Schengen Visa Fees

The typical application fee for a Schengen visa for Hungary is 80 EUR. Certain applicants, such as those for most student visas and visas for children under the age of six, are exempt from fees. A separate, non-refundable service fee will likely be required of applicants along with their application.

When to Apply for a Hungary Schengen Visa

Visa requests must be submitted at least 15 days but no sooner than 6 months prior to the intended date of travel.

Where to apply

◉ Either the Hungarian Consulate or a center for applying for visas that are affiliated with Hungary shall receive applications. ◉ Applications may be submitted through a Schengen state consulate that represents the interests of a Hungarian consulate in nations without a Hungarian consulate. ◉ Applications may be made to any Hungarian consulate outside the Schengen region in nations without a Hungarian consulate or a Schengen consulate representing the interests of a Hungarian consulate. ◉ The applicant must provide a good justification. if they have to submit an application at a consulate or facility for processing visas for Hungary where they are neither a citizen nor resident. ◉ For instance, the applicant must be legally residing in another country with a permission or visa that is current, and the consulate in that nation must have approved the applicant's justifications for applying through them and has chosen to process the application. ◉ Applicants can check for the locations of Hungarian Consulates and visa application centers.

Hungary Visa Processing Time

Application processing for Hungary Schengen visas typically takes 15 days. However, it could take up to 45 days in some circumstances.

For approved visa applications:

  • Prior to collection, applicants must verify that the information on the visa is accurate and current.
  • Those who applied for and were granted a Schengen visa for Hungary should keep in mind the following:
  1. If your travel plans change after you’ve submitted your application, let the Hungarian Consulate or visa application center know.
  2. Entry into Hungary or any other Schengen country is not assured by the approval of a Schengen visa.
  3. To enter Hungary or other Schengen countries, you might still need to provide more documentation about your financial situation or lodging.

For denied visa applications:

  • You or your legal agent have eight days to appeal a decision that denies your request for a Hungarian Schengen visa.
  • Picking up the normal visa refusal form, which also includes the specifics of the rejection and the appeals process’ protocols, such as where the appeal should be sent, is the first step in the appeals process.
  • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Consular Department makes decisions regarding appeals 15 days after receiving them.
  • Appeals must be made in writing in Hungarian or another language of the EU. Those who wish to submit their appeals in a language outside the EU must also attach an authoritative translation. You or a representative you have designated legally must sign the appeal.
  • A non-refundable fee of 30 EUR must be paid for the appeal to be processed.
