  4. Complete the application.
  • Depending on where you are applying from, the Schengen visa application process for Italy may be different.

  • Click this link for further details on how to apply for an Italian Schengen visa. Choose your country of citizenship and other details about your visa.

    5. Schedule a visa appointment, if applicable.

  • Most applications must be submitted in person at a scheduled appointment at the Italian Consulate or visa center that is closest to you. Alternately, applications may be submitted throughout regular business hours without an appointment. If an appointment is required, get in touch with the Italian Consulate or visa facility.

    6. Submit your Italy Schengen visa application.

  • Applications must be submitted no earlier than six months, but no less than 15 days, before the date of travel.

  • It is anticipated that applicants will be required to provide their fingerprints as biometric information. Biometric information collecting is not permitted for children under the age of 12. Most likely, applicants who have already submitted their fingerprints within the last 59 months won’t be requested to do so again.
  • Additionally, candidates might be asked to return at a later time for a trip-related interview.

     7. Pay the visa application fee.

Application processing for Italy Schengen visas typically takes 15 days. It might take longer in some circumstances, though.

For approved visa applications:

  • Prior to collection, applicants must verify that the information on the visa is accurate and current.
  • Applicants who have obtained their Italian Schengen Visa should keep in mind the following:
  1. Any changes to your itinerary after submitting your application should be communicated to the Italian Consulate or visa application facility.
  2. The granting of a Schengen visa does not ensure admission upon arrival in Italy or other Schengen member states.
  3. To enter Italy or other Schengen countries, you might still need to present more documentation proving your financial stability or place of residence.

For denied visa applications:

  • You have 60 days to appeal the judgment if your application for an Italian Schengen visa is denied.
  • Picking up the normal visa refusal form, which also includes the specifics of the rejection and the appeals process, is the first step in the appeals process.
  • The Tribunale Amministrativo Regionale, or T.A.R. of Lazio, hears appeals.
  • The appeal cannot be processed without the payment of a non-refundable fee.
