For India Visa

  1. Passport
  • Must be valid for at least six months from the intended date of entry into India.
  • Has at least two blank pages for the immigration officer to stamp.
  • A scanned copy of the passport’s bio page with the photo and personal details is required.

  • In JPEG format, without borders, minimum of 10 KB and maximum of 
  • In JPEG format and without borders and  between 10 KB to 300 KB and the background should be plain white or light-colored.
  • Show a frontal view with the full face and eyes open and the head should be centered within the frame and measure between 1 to 1 3/8 inches or 25 to 35 mm.
  • The eye height should be between 1 1/8 inches to 1/3 inches, and the full head from top of the hair to the bottom of the chin should be visible.
  • There should be no shadows on the face or background.
  1. Return ticket or forward ticket to another destination after your stay in India
  2. Proof of sufficient money to spend while in India

Application steps

  • Gather all the required documents.
  • Fill out the application form.
  • Visit the official Indian website for visa application and provide your details such as your nationality, the embassy or consulate where you plan to submit your application, and your expected date of arrival in India. Additionally, you need to select Tourism as the type of visa, specify the purpose of your visit and continue with the application process.
  • To apply for an Indian visa, fill out the application form in English, upload your photo, and review the details on the summary page before submitting the application online. Once completed, the application form must be printed out and signed. Remember to take note of the Application ID, which is generated automatically after submitting the application.
  1. Schedule an Indian visa appointment.
  • After submitting the application, the applicant will be given the option to either schedule an appointment and pay the visa fee online, or to print the completed application form, submit it with the required supporting documents, and pay the visa fee at the Indian Mission.
  • Applicants who choose to make the payment online will be directed to another webpage where they can choose a convenient date and time for their appointment at the chosen Indian Mission. They can also calculate all the fees associated with the visa application on this page.
  • Those who prefer to make the payment at the Indian Mission or VAC can simply schedule an appointment for an Indian visa.
  1. Pay the visa application fee.
  2. Submit the Indian visa application form.
  • After completing the application form, providing supporting documents and paying the application fee (if not paid online), applicants can submit these to the Indian Mission. The Indian Mission or VAC will then notify applicants whether their visa application is successful or not. Applicants will also be informed whether they need to collect their visa from the Indian Mission or VAC, or if it will be sent back to them via post.

India Visa Fees

The cost of the visa application varies based on its type and validity, as well as any additional fees that may apply. The basic fee can be viewed by the applicant at the end of the registration process, but the final fee charged at the counter may differ. It should be noted that all fees, regardless of the result of the visa application, are non-refundable.

Where to apply

To apply for an Indian visa, applicants can use the official website to complete and submit the application form online. Once submitted, the completed application form must be printed out and submitted, along with the necessary supporting documents and passport, to either the Indian Mission or the VAC.

When to Apply

It is recommended that applicants apply for an eVisa at least four days prior to their intended travel date.

An Indian visa application typically takes at least three working days to process. However, there may be certain special cases where the processing time may take longer.
