The creator of Larry, Al Lowie, was rightfully one of the industrial idols. To understand what is happening with Leisure Suit Larry Now, imagine the situation: the offspring of the participants of the famous Monty Pyton show redeem the brand, remove their fathers from business and under the same sign begin to bake endless "American pies".
In 2004, the seventh Leisure Suit Larry – Magna Cum Laude. Eight years after the release of the ingenious Love for Sale! One of the best quest series turned into a collection of mini-arcades, and for all types of humor, developers for some reason preferred “Youth”. It is not surprising, because Al Lowie had nothing to do with the game. We then wrote on this subject: “For us, nostalgiars in the era of classic quests, Magna Cum Laude is a crime against the mind, honor, conscience and good taste”. Of course, it is possible to argue for a long time that the authors simply adapted to a new audience, but the fact remains: neither the old guard nor the youth appreciated the game, Magna Cum Laude actually failed. Continued to wait another five years, and all-only then to make sure: it still happens worse. Larry Goes to Hollywood
First, the series again changed the developers. Box Office Bust – hand Team17 , authors Worms. In the early stages of work, they said that the main guidelines are considered to be the same youth comedies. One of the actresses who took off in the American Pie was even invited to participate in the voicing of Box Office Bust, and to write a script, dialogs and jokes was entrusted to Allen Corvert, the producer of such high -profile paintings as “Boy on Three” and “Boys Like”.
What did he come up with? According to the plot, Larry Laffer became the owner of his own film studio. His affairs are going well, but among the workers a spy started, which regularly drains the tabloid information that compromises the company. To take the mole to clean water, Laffer turned to his nephew, Larry Lavedu, the main character Magna Cum Laude. The plan is simple: the nephew is hired by the workshop, is gradually mastered, rubbed into confidence in colleagues and holds the ears on the crown.
This gives developers a lot of opportunities to laugh at modern and classic cinema, and they are not shy about using these opportunities. Our hero falls on the film sets of the Titanic, a suspiciously familiar film about the zombie and even Nosferath Friedrich Murnau. In terms of quality, most parodies barely reach a “very terrible movie”, but really funny jokes come across. For example, a meeting with a half -capable di caprio. Or an ancient actor, a crush of a Belmondo with a Clint Eastwood, who occasionally appears in the frame and makes something indecent (for example, changes into female underwear). And, of course, almost the best that is in the game: an animated main menu where the “Romer” zombies roam the cinema hall.
Girls were also a success, without whom Leisure Suit Larry for obvious reasons is nowhere. One of them – Sexy Russian Olga – first with a characteristic accent declares Larry that he looks like an old Albanian woman, then shows a desire to become a star of American striptease. Even in Magna Cum Laude, a conversation with the next passion was accompanied by mini-players, in which we could solder the young man, mix drinks, dance, jump from a springboard (!) and even arrange the subject of lust of flogging. In the previous series, we at least saved up money, took care that the hero did not lose self -confidence (otherwise he would not even speak with any girl), interacted with objects (there were still elements of the quest!) and talked with the inhabitants of the student town. In Box Office Bust, the characters silently wanders along the streets, and the environment is interactively only in the chosen places. Nobody needs money and confidence. There are only plot mini-games and the opportunity to change the costume.
And, of course, you will have to get through the thick layer of toilet humor. Equal to the "American cake" noticeably naked eye. The most popular word in the game is “Fuck”, and most of the jokes are somehow connected with the fifth point. There is Anus Productions, one of the scenes is called “The Good, The Bad and the Ass Bandits”, and a producer named Big Anus is found among the characters.
