Required Documents
For New Zealand Visa

  1. Passport
  • Valid for at least 3 months past the date you plan to leave New Zealand
  1. Completed and signed application form (Form 1017)
  • Answer in English in capital letters
  1.  Passport-sized photos
  • For paper applications:
    • The photo submitted for the Russian visa application must be colored, 35mm x 45mm in size, and show natural skin tones.
    • Must be in portrait orientation and taken against a plain or light-colored background within the last 6 months.
    • Taken 1.5 meters away from the face, and the applicant must wear plain clothing with their face clearly visible, eyes open, mouth closed, and hair tucked behind the ears.
    • The applicant must have a neutral expression in the photo.
  • For online applications
    • The photo should be between 500 KB and 3 MB in size.
    • Should have a resolution between 900 x 1200 pixels and 2250 x 3000 pixels.
    • In JPEG format and display natural skin tones.
    • In portrait orientation and taken within the last 6 months.
    • Taken against a plain or light-colored background from a distance of 1.5 meters.
    • The applicant must wear plain clothing, have a neutral expression, with their face clearly visible, eyes open, mouth closed, and hair tucked behind the ears.
  1. You must provide evidence that you have plans to leave New Zealand at the end of your visit, such as proof of onward travel arrangements or a demonstration of your intention to return to your country of residence.
  2. Proof that you are visiting only for the following purposes:
  • Holidaying
  • Getting married
  • Visiting family and friends
  • Participating in amateur sports
  1. Proof of financial support
  • To apply for a temporary visa in New Zealand, you need to submit either a completed INZ 1025 form or Sponsorship Form for Temporary Entry, or 
  • Provide evidence that you have sufficient funds to support yourself during your stay.
  1. Applicants who include their partner or children in the application must provide the following:
  • Proof of relationship with partner
  • Proof that they are the parent or legal guardian of the children included in the application
  1. Documents must be in English or translated to English. Each translation must have the following:
  • Signature or stamp of the translator or the translation business
  • Be on the business’s official letterhead (if possible)
  1. Translations must be certified and must be carried out by the following:
  • Translation of documents into English can be done by different entities.
  • One option is to use the Translation Service of the Department of Internal Affairs in New Zealand.
  • Another option is to seek translation services from reputable individuals who are known to provide accurate translations.
  • Embassies or High Commissions can also be contacted for assistance in translating documents.
  • Private or official translation businesses can also be utilized for this purpose.
  • Licensed immigration advisers who are:
  • Trusted within the community
  • Known to translate documents accurately
  • Not assisting as advisor on the application

Application steps

Paper Applications:

  1. Gather all the required documents.
  2. Fill out the application form.
  • To apply for a visa, the applicant should download and print the Application Form 1017, fill it out in English using capital letters, and review the checklist to ensure all necessary documents are included.
  1. Visit the Immigration New Zealand website.
  • You should select the correct information about your visa type, country of nationality and citizenship, the country where you plan to submit your application, mode of application (on paper), and the number of persons applying for a visa to check the receiving center fees, time frames, and VAC details.
  1. Schedule a New Zealand visa appointment.
  2. Submit your New Zealand visa application form.
  • Once you have completed your application form and gathered all the necessary supporting documents, you can submit them at the VAC. The VAC will provide instructions on how to collect your passport, visa, and other relevant documents.
  1. Pay your visa application fees and other fees (if applicable) at the VAC.

Online Applications

  1. Gather all required documents.
  • Scan the documents and save as in PDF format.
  1. Fill out the application form.
  • To apply for a visitor visa to New Zealand, visit the official New Zealand Immigration Online  website. If you don’t have an account yet, create a RealMe account or log in to your existing account. Follow the instructions for account creation or setup, and complete the application form in English by answering the questions provided online.
  1. Submit your New Zealand visa application online.
  • Once you have filled out the application form, you need to upload the supporting documents. These documents should be in PDF format and must not exceed 10 MB in size.
  1. Pay the application fee and immigration levy using Visa, Mastercard, or UnionPay
  • After submitting the application, applicants will receive a notification indicating whether they need to send their passport or if they are eligible for an eVisa. If a passport is required, it should be sent to the nearest VAC within 20 days of the notification. Failure to do so may result in a delay or rejection of the application. Additionally, there may be a handling fee that needs to be paid when sending passports to VACs.

Note:
After submitting an online application, some applicants may be required to provide additional information or documents. In this case, they can upload the necessary documents through the online system by following the instructions provided.

  • New Zealand Visa Fees

    The cost of a visitor visa usually begins at NZ$150, but the amount may differ based on factors such as the applicant’s nationality, the location where the application was submitted, and whether the application was done online or on paper. In addition to the visa application fee, other fees such as the tourism levy fee may also apply.

    Where to apply

    Applicants have the option to either submit their visa applications online via the official New Zealand Immigration Online website (RealMe) or by paper application through VACs.

    New Zealand Visa Processing Time

  • As per the information available on the New Zealand immigration website, the current processing duration for a visitor visa application is up to 11 months.
  • Note: Visa processing for applications made outside New Zealand is currently on hold due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation, as these applications are unlikely to meet the country's current entry requirements.

  • For approved visa applications:

    It is important to verify the details of the visa and contact the VAC or Immigration New Zealand if any detail on the visa is incorrect. In case the visa details do not match the passport, it may cause delays when traveling to New Zealand. It should be noted that eVisa only includes the first and last name of the applicant and does not include any middle name.

    For denied visa applications

    Rejected visa applicants have the option to write to the consulate that issued the rejection.
